The objectives of East Asian Youth Games are to promote the development of sports, culture, education and the spirit of fair play in sports competitions among young people in East Asia, as well as to build up the physical fitness of young generation in the region.

It also serves to identify young talented athletes in East Asia through the participation in multi-sports Games in order to strengthen the relationship between them and inspire them to participate in future Olympic Games.
